Surface Mount Technology
Employing state of the art DEK printers, Europlacer placement machines and BTU convection air reflow ovens, Ultra CEMS achieves industry standards and beyond in the accurate placement of surface mount devices. With many years experience of placing BGA, UBGA, CSP and small profile passives down to and including 0201, the plant offers a cost effective high yield solution to any SMT requirement.
Conventional Leaded Technology
Having no regard to the growth of SMT, the use of conventional leaded technology in new products continues in strength. Ultra CEMS staff have many decades of experience in hand assembly, working to IPC 610 class 3, the high reliability standard of workmanship. With a dedicated workforce and a comprehensive infrastructure of works instructions and procedures, the Weymouth plant manufactures product for demanding customers where consistency of quality is utterly essential.
Special Processes
Ultra CEMS offers a variety of less common processes, including the use of high melting point solders, special conformal coating agents, Intrusive reflow and secure enclosure assembly.
PCB Assembly
MOD security cleared staff. Ultra CEMS is a registered 揅rypto Bastion within the meaning of Governmental encryption regulations, enabling the assembly of highly sensitive security products which employ high orders of encryption.
RoHS Regulations
Ultra CEMS continues to provide full lead based processing for exempt category product, whilst also having invested in lead-free equipment and process control.
Selective Wave Solder
Having two Selective Wave soldering machines Ultra CEMS achieves consistent quality and process control when assembling boards having multiple ground and power planes, high-current connectors or A-typical distribution of components.
Inspection Methods
In addition to the ubiquitous binocular microscopes, used throughout the plant, Ultra-CEMS has special in-house inspection tools including Ersascope macro optical inspection and 3 dimensional X-ray.
Conformal Coating
Both dip-coating and vertical spray coating is available at the Weymouth plant, along with an air-abrasive coating removal system. The staff have experience of a wide range of coating agents to meet most requirements.
DFM&T Support
Engineering staff at Weymouth and Cambridge are pleased to provide early feedback on plots of new PCB layouts. Often less well understood by design engineers the art of achieving the required electronic functionality whilst creating a cost effectively manufactured PCB assembly, is vitally important as time-to-market shortens and the cost of re-design increases.
